mKonnekt Tobacco Discounts
mKonnekt is an API integration that applies manufacturer-funded tobacco and nicotine discounts at the point of sale. When a customer purchases eligible tobacco or nicotine products, the system queries the mKonnekt discount engine for applicable promotions from participating manufacturers (Altria, RJ Reynolds, Helix, PM-USA, JMC, NJOY) and applies the discounts directly to the order.

How It Works
- Item Setup — Tobacco and nicotine item types are flagged with a manufacturer (Altria or RJ Reynolds) in the Item Type Editor.
- Order Screen — When an order contains flagged items, an Apply mKonnekt button appears on the order screen.
- Discount Lookup — Clicking the button calls the mKonnekt API with the order's line items, UPCs, and customer phone number.
- Discount Applied — The returned discounts are applied as cash discounts on the eligible line items, and the order total is recalculated.
Discount Types
| Discount Type | Description |
|---|---|
| Loyalty Fund Allowances | Applied when the customer has a phone number on file. |
| Multi-Can / Multi-Unit | Applied when the line item quantity is 2 or more. |
| Total Buydown | A flat manufacturer-funded discount applied to eligible products. |
