Package Transfer & Labeling Item Guide
For packaging Solutions - Butchers, Grocery, and other Packages
We'll provide a scenario to see if this solution is what you are looking for:
You have 5 lbs of ground beef. You want to package into 5 individual products for sale. You don't want to create new products that apply to the random weight of this item. You want to package the items as you weigh them out, they don't have to be exactly 1 lb a piece.
When you are done you want to have a label that describes the item, the price per lb, when it was packaged and some other company info. It will have a serial number with a barcode that uniquely identifies it.
We recommend adding a transaction type that is named 'Package Order'. You can make these orders, and then suspend them later They will contain all of the items you have packaged.
You will weigh out an item, press the 'fire' button or the label button, and it will print out the label as described above.
Each packaged item will then be trackable. When it is scanned, the item will be transferred on to the order. It will be removed from the Package Order. In this way, you can both package unique weighted items, as well as keep track of the inventory of all of these packages.
Repackaging.
You may need to repackage the item. This is how you would do that.
- Start a new transaction. We recommend making a new transaction type named 'RePackaging'
- Add a new adjustment type called 'Repackage'.
- When you want to repackage an item, you scan it onto a new order.
- You void the item. And select 'Repackage'
- This will remove it from the system.
- You can then repackage the item on the same transaction. This will show the balance of materials being used.
