DataCap Android EMV
The Android EMV integration connects PAX A920 handheld devices to the POS via Bluetooth using the DSI EMV Android protocol. This is different from the DC Direct protocol used by stationary PAX pin pads.

Prerequisites
- PAX A920, A920 ProMax, A77, handheld device
- Android POS device running the Pointless app - Android Phone etc.
- DataCap merchant account
- Bluetooth capability on the Android POS device
Terminal Assignment
- Navigate to Settings > POS List.
- Select the terminal (Android device) that will pair with the PAX A920.
- Scroll to the Android Secure Device section.
- In the Bluetooth Device Name dropdown, select the paired PAX A920 device from the list of available Bluetooth devices.
- Save the terminal settings.
The device list is populated by scanning for nearby Bluetooth devices. Use the Device List button in the DC Direct Settings panel to refresh the available devices.
DC Direct Settings for Android EMV
In addition to the Bluetooth device assignment, configure the DC Direct Settings fields for the Android EMV connection:

Bluetooth Permissions
On Android, the app requires Bluetooth permission to communicate with the PAX A920:
- In the DC Direct Settings panel, click Bluetooth Permission to request the permission.
- Grant the permission when prompted.
- If permission is denied, the PAX A920 will not be available for transactions.
Parameter Download
After initial configuration, download parameters to the device:
- In the DC Direct Settings panel, click the Android > Param Download button.
- Wait for confirmation.
Testing
The DC Direct Settings panel includes testing controls for Android EMV:
- Sale — Process a test sale with tip prompt.
- Sale No Tip — Process a test sale without tip prompt.
- Refund — Process a test refund.
- Reset Device — Reset the PAX A920.
- Cancel Transaction — Cancel an in-progress transaction.
- Android Test Mode — Toggle test mode for debugging.
Enabling in Transaction Settings
- Navigate to Settings > Software & Hardware > Transaction Settings.
- Enable DC Direct Android.
- Save the transaction settings.
