eBay Publish Product

The eBay Publish Product page allows you to list an inventory item on eBay. The process involves configuring shipping and packaging details, creating an offer with pricing and category information, and publishing the listing live on eBay.

Overview

Publishing a product to eBay follows a multi-step workflow organized into tabs:

  1. Shipping & Packaging — Define package type, dimensions, and weight.
  2. Create Offer — Set price, quantity, category, and product-specific attributes.
  3. Publish Offer — Select item condition and go live on eBay.
  4. Images — Review product images that will appear on the listing.

Listing Status

At the top of the page, a status panel shows the current state of the listing:

  • Inventory Published — The item's inventory record has been sent to eBay.
  • Offer ID — The unique identifier for the eBay offer.
  • Offer Status — The current state of the published listing (e.g., Active, Draft).
  • No Inventory Published — Indicates that inventory has not yet been synced with eBay.

Step 1: Shipping & Packaging

Before creating an offer, you must configure how the item will be shipped.

Package Type

Select the type of packaging from the available options (e.g., Mailing Box, Envelope, Padded Envelope, etc.).

Dimensions

Enter the package dimensions:

  • Height — Height of the package.
  • Length — Length of the package.
  • Width — Width of the package.
  • Dimensions UOM — Unit of measure for dimensions (e.g., INCH).

Weight

Enter the package weight:

  • Value — The weight amount.
  • Unit — Unit of measure (e.g., POUND, KILOGRAM, OUNCE, GRAM).

Shipping and packaging details must be set before inventory can be published to eBay.

Step 2: Create Offer

The Create Offer tab is where you define the listing details.

Basic Offer Details

  • SKU — The inventory SKU, automatically pulled from your product.
  • Listing Description / Title — The title buyers will see on eBay.
  • Available Quantity — How many units to list (can be less than total inventory).
  • Quantity Limit Per Buyer — Maximum units a single buyer can purchase.
  • Price — The selling price in USD.

Category Selection

eBay requires every listing to be assigned to a category:

  1. Click Get Category Options to fetch suggested categories based on your listing description.
  2. Select a category from the dropdown list.
  3. Once a category is assigned, the category name or ID will display.

eBay Aspects

Aspects are product-specific attributes required by eBay for the selected category (e.g., Brand, Size, Color, Material):

  1. After selecting a category, click Get Required Aspects.
  2. Fill in each required aspect value from the form that appears.
  3. Aspects are saved automatically.

Product Description

Below the tabs, a rich text editor lets you write or edit the product description. This description appears in the eBay listing.

Step 3: Publish Offer

The Publish Offer tab is where you finalize and go live.

Condition

Before publishing, you must set the item condition:

  1. Click Get Conditions to fetch available condition options for your category.
  2. Select a condition from the dropdown (e.g., New, Like New, Used - Excellent).

Publishing

Once the condition is set and all requirements are met, click Publish Offer to list the item live on eBay.

An offer can only be published after the inventory has been published and an offer ID has been created.

eBay Actions Menu

The eBay Actions menu provides access to inventory and offer management:

  • Publish Inventory — Sends the item's inventory record (SKU, dimensions, weight) to eBay. This must be done before creating an offer.
  • Check Inventory — Verifies the current inventory status on eBay.
  • Delete Inventory — Removes the inventory record from eBay.
  • Create Offer — Generates an offer record on eBay. Requires inventory to be published first.
  • Check Offer Status — Retrieves the current status of the offer.
  • Delete Offer — Removes the offer from eBay.

Show / Hide JSON Header

Toggle the visibility of the raw JSON data panel, which shows the underlying data being sent to and received from eBay.

Images

The Images tab displays all product images associated with the listing. Images are pulled from your product's image gallery and will appear on the eBay listing.

Important Notes

  • Inventory first — You must publish inventory to eBay before you can create an offer.
  • One offer per inventory item — Only one active offer can exist per inventory item. To create multiple offers (e.g., different prices or conditions), duplicate the inventory item first.
  • Quantity flexibility — The offer quantity can be less than your total inventory. This lets you list a portion of stock while holding the remainder.
  • Save frequently — Click Save at any time to persist your changes locally before publishing to eBay.
